Reason for migration: I came here as a young mother because I could not get the resources I needed to care for myself and my child.

Commentary: My experiences in this country have been a kaleidoscope of good and bad.  At the very worst, I’ve had people tell me to get out of a room.  I’ve had people spray Lysol, make fun of my accent.  I’ve had food thrown at me.  I’ve been told that I don’t belong here.  But I have also had great laughs, I have been able to have my voice heard without fear – freedom of speech is the biggest blessing! -- and I’ve been able to help others as well.  All in all, I am happy here.  And I have been able to raise two children successfully.
